The Conservatory of Dance
Mission Statement: The Conservatory of Dance at DeSales University provides the community with affordable, low pressure, high quality dance training while giving qualified dance majors an opportunity to teach. The Conservatory of Dance is a caring , learning environment where our well-trained faculty share the joy of movement through dance with students of all ages.
Dance Training for All Ages!
Creative Movement (ages 4-5) Basic exploration of various movement qualities, rhythms, and energy. Locomotor skills. flexibility, spatial awareness, and interpersonal dynamics will be strengthened with an emphasis on fun. No previous experience is necessary.
Pre-Ballet (ages 6-7) A continuation of the skills first explored in creative movement, with greater refinement of motor coordination. Previous experience is suggested but not required.
Hip-Hop (ages 8+) Exploration of the technique and terminology of this contemporary dance form. Previous dance experience is recommended, but not required.
Ballet 1 (ages 8+) Basic ballet terminology and technique continues, stressing grace, poise, and balance. At least one year of previous dance experience is required.
Ballet 2 (ages 9+)
A continuation of ballet technique, fostering a
greater appreciation for this classical dance form.
At least two years of previous training is required.
Tap 1 (ages 6+) Explores the various rhythms, sounds, and vocabulary of tap. This class will develop rhythmic sensitivity and fine motor control. No previous experience is required.
Tap 2 (ages 8+) A continuation of the skills learned in intermediate tap, this class also includes elements of improvisation. At least two years of previous experience is required.
Jazz 1 (ages 7+) Emphasis is on motor control, flexibility, strength, and development of jazz technique. Previous dance experience is recommended, but not required.
