This post is merely a test for some features I’m trying to incorporate

this is a test of the functionality that will allow us to display a feed of the day’s posts. Because this feature has the option of a 25 word excerpt I am also testing that with this random text here. I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend and an enjoyable Monday. More random words here and perhaps some pasted text: Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

A message from Father O’Connor about the United Way Campaign

DeSales award for United Way participationIn the midst of all the economic difficulties of the nation and the Lehigh Valley, the DeSales University community did not neglect the disadvantaged people within our valley. As I mentioned in my yearly meetings with each member of the DeSales family, DeSales University received the award for the highest participation rate among the institutions of higher education within the Lehigh Valley of the United Way Campaign for 2009-2010. This is a stellar achievement that reflects the deepest values of the institution. Saint Francis de Sales and Saint Jane de Chantal must be immensely proud.

The United Way Campaign offers us a yearly opportunity to unite with others in our larger human family. Like the Bishop’s Annual Appeal and many singularly focused fundraisers, the United Way Campaign invites us to respond to our brothers and sisters in need. There but for the grace of God go I.

Deacon George Kelly will again oversee our contributions. For many of you, the solicitation will occur over the internet. Email is becoming our preferred means of communication. Those without University email accounts will be approached in the old fashioned way.

It is hard to overstate the support that DeSales University has received over the years from the good people of the Lehigh Valley. I know that many of you are also contributors to the DeSales Annual Fund for financial aid and to the Bishop’s Annual Appeal. I ask you to also make room in your heart for this year’s United Way Campaign.

May the Good Lord continue to bless us all! May this year be one of blessing and happiness for the entire DeSales University community!

Click here to make a pledge.

Thank you,
Fr. Bernie O’Connor, OSFS, President
