Come explore different immigrant stories while learning about some of the attitudes and opinions voiced about immigration in the United States. Two speakers will present Christian perspectives to respond to the new opportunities for mission with immigrant communities.

March DEMO training: When Lightning Strike: Shots Fired on Campus

It can’t happen here! Well, we hope you are right, but this year’s emergency management sustainment training course supports Ramah, the Emergency Management Office’s Prevent and Counter Violence Program.

**$25 gift card to the student who is first to call Ext. 2242 and explain why the prevent and counter violence program is called Ramah.**

If you have not already received this training, please see if one of the following days and times will work for you. Additional classes will be announced throughout the year. Employees are expected to attend one of these classes, since it is the basic lock-down training class; however students, friends and neighbors are encouraged to attend this and follow-on classes as their schedule permits.

DEMO is offering the first class, When Lightning Strike: Shots Fired on Campus,  in the Trexler Room at the University Center on any of the following days/times. Academic Excellence Address Competition

$500 prize award! The Faculty of DeSales University strongly encourage full-time traditional undergraduate day students to enter the Academic Excellence Address Competition.

The Academic Excellence Address Award is given each year to encourage, acknowledge, and reward academic excellence in public speaking. The winner presents his/her speech at the Academic Excellence Ceremony Liturgy held in the Connelly Chapel on Sunday, May 1, 2011, at 1:30 p.m.

Looking for a summer job?

Come to the information sessions for the Dreams and Futuros Empresarios (Future Entrepreneurs) summer programs. We’re looking to hire current DeSales freshmen, sophomore and juniors who have Federal Work Study.  Housing and meals are included in addition to a paycheck!

Black history fact of the day… 2/28

Susan Rice is America’s third woman ambassador to the UN, and the first black woman to hold the position. Dr. Rice’s road to this position was a unique one. She not only earned departmental honors and university distinction, but also became a Harry S. Truman scholar, was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and earned a Rhodes scholarship.
