What To Do at DSU – HOMECOMING Weekend

Friday, September 28:

  • The Lehigh Paul Short Invitational for the Men’s Cross Country team is at 12:00 PM.
  • At 6:00 PM, there will be a shuttle for Celtic Fest in Bethlehem.   Pickup is at McShea
  • Arsenic and Old Lace will be playing at 8:00 PM in Labuda.
  • The Homecoming Bonfire will be at 9:00 PM at Billera.

Saturday, September 29:

  • Various Homecoming events will be happening all day. Go Bulldogs!
  • The Women’s Volleyball team has an away match at Widener, and the games start at 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM.
  • Support the Women’s Field Hockey team at their home game at 12:00 PM as they take on Delaware Valley College!
  • Cheer on the Women’s Soccer team at their home game when they play Eastern University at 12:30 PM!
  • Support the Men’s Soccer team at their home game when they take on Eastern University at 3:00 PM!
  • Arsenic and Old Lace is at 8:00 PM in Labuda.

Sunday, September 30:

  • Arsenic and Old Lace is playing at 2:00 PM in Labuda.
  • Homecoming Big 5 Tournament Indoors is at 7:00 PM in McShea.

Important Homecoming Weekend information

As many of you are aware, this coming weekend is Homecoming Weekend.  This event is planned and organized by Institutional Advancement especially for the Alumni of DeSales University.  Although this event is designed to welcome our over 12,000 alums back to campus, current students are encouraged to take advantage of the many events that will be taking place throughout the weekend.

In particular, there are several events that we encourage all of our current students to attend.  Listed below is a schedule of these events.

Friday, September 28

9:00 pm  Alumni/Student Bonfire (Behind Billera Hall)

Saturday, September 29

Noon Women’s Field Hockey vs. Delaware Valley College

12:30 pm  Women’s Soccer vs. Eastern University

3:00 pm  Men’s Soccer vs. Eastern University

5:30 pm  Mass, Connelly Chapel

Please note that current students who are 21 years of age or older are welcome to enter the Alumni Tailgating area which is located in the Billera Hall parking lot adjacent to the tennis courts.  Students who are 21 years old or older must possess a valid form of identification issued by a federal or state agency in order to enter the tailgating area.  Students under 21 years of age are prohibited from entering the tailgating area.   All University policies and procedures are still in effect for this weekend, if any student is found in violation of these policies they will be referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

Alacoque Discussions every Wednesday

Campus Ministry invites all faculty, staff, and students to the Alacoque House every Wednesday, beginning on October 3 from 12:15 – 12:45 p.m. for reflection and discussion on Sister John Marie’s recently published book, Salesian Pearls of Wisdom. Bring your lunch. Campus Ministry will provide coffee and dessert.

The ARC has updated the TutorTrac tutor scheduling system. Now, you can log in and schedule a peer or professional tutor online at  http://tutor.desales.edu.

Please note that if you need to see a professional for writing support, study skills, disability services, or prospective tutoring, you should select PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT in the drop-down menu.  Professional tutors in math, biology and chemistry will remain on Tutortrac under PROFESSIONAL TUTORS as in the past.

If you have trouble logging in to the system, don’t let that stop you from getting help. Just visit the ARC, in Dooling 23, and ask for assistance. Denise Long can help you to get your password working.

Act 1 Celebrates the Legacy of Irving Berlin with I Love a Piano

Act 1 DeSales University Theatre presents I Love a Piano, a triumphant singing and dancing tribute to Irving Berlin, a genius of the American stage. The production, part of Act 1’s Second Stage season, runs October 11 to October 21 in the intimate Schubert Theatre of the Labuda Center for the Performing Arts. Performances are Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8:00 PM and Sundays at 2:00 PM.

This energetic revue chronicles the boundless spirit of the American Century from the era of World War I through the Roaring ‘20s and the Depression through to the 1950s and features such classics as “Alexander’s Ragtime Band,” “Blue Skies,” “There’s No Business Like Show Business,” “Puttin’ on the Ritz,” “Cheek to Cheek,” “White Christmas,” “God Bless America,” and, of course, “I Love a Piano.”
