Spring Break Safety Tips

Spring Break Safety Tips from University Police & Public Safety

  • The legal age to consume alcohol is 21 years of age.
  • Alcohol and other drugs raise the risk of fights, sexual assaults and other crimes. They also hurt your ability to make good decisions, notice warning signs and defend yourself.
  • Choose from the many alcohol and or drug free options for fun while on break.
  • Open and pour your own beverages. Avoid punches or other mixed concoctions. And don’t leave your drink unattended- if you must, get a new drink!
  • Date rape drugs can be slipped into drinks, which can cause confusion, loss of muscle control and memory loss.
  • Most sexual assaults happen between acquaintances-like at parties or while on dates.
  • Never go somewhere alone, try to participate in group outings.
  • Agree that you and your friends will watch out for each other. If someone’s in trouble or heading that way, step in!

Enjoy your break and have a safe trip wherever that may be!
