We’re weeks away from the Blackboard Learn 9.1 debut. Here are some reminders and resources to help you prepare.

All new faculty will be automatically enrolled in a DEIT faculty community group with an orientation to Blackboard, a link to workshop recordings and other tools to assist with building courses.  Likewise, all students will be enrolled in a moderated student orientation this first year.

R.I.P., Betty R. Seipp, mother of Larry Belt

It is with deepest regrets we announce the passing of Betty R. Seipp, mother of Larry Belt, adjunct faculty member with the Humanities Department.

Betty R. Seipp, 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at The Brethren Home Community, New Oxford. Born February 6, 1925, in Hamp-stead, Md., she was a daughter of the late Daniel LeRoy and Ruth Sybilla (Ebaugh) Seipp. Mrs. Seipp was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church where she enjoyed being a volunteer receptionist. Betty also loved knitting, needle point, crocheting, reading and traveling. She had a very good sense of humor and made friends very easily. Betty is survived by three children, David M. Belt and his wife Yi of Frederick, Md., Joan D. Belt of Hanover and Larry D. Belt and his partner, Steve McLerran of Rehoboth Beach, Del.; and six grandchildren. Mrs. Seipp was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Rodgers. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Seipp will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover with Rev. Dr. Daniel M. Yeiser officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and again from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Wesley United Methodist Church Cemetery, Hampstead, Md. For those desiring, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Betty’s memory to St. Matthew Lutheran Church (for human needs), 30 W.
