Walk A Mile, an annual event that strives to improve gender relationships by providing men and women with a better understanding of women’s experiences with sexual assault, takes place on Thursday, September 25 at 5:00 p.m. in the Commonwealth room in the University Center. The event costs $5 per person and registration begins at 4:30 p.m. in the Commonwealth room. Participants will receive a free t-shirt.
Walk A Mile asks men and women to literally walk one mile in women’s heels. The event begins with a short program, entitled “If These Walls Could Talk.” The program will demonstrate how individuals keep their struggles with abuse to themselves without telling others, thinking that there is no way for them to get help. Representatives from Turning Point, SAFE Nurses, and Crime Victims Council will speak about what they do and the services that they offer. After the presentation there will be a short prayer before the walk begins.
