DEIT Workshops June 2015

FACULTY: New faculty can join DEIT for the Distance Education Welcome Chat online on 6/4/15 from 7:00 PM – 7:30 PM to learn about the resources the DEIT department and library offer. To learn more about Blackboard, faculty can join the Blackboard Fundamentals online workshop on 6/8/15 from 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM.

DEIT is also offering faculty workshops on Panopto and Blackboard Collaborate. The online Blackboard Collaborate workshop on 6/10/2015 from 7:00 – 8:00 PM. The online Panopto workshop will be held on 6/24/2015 from 7:00 – 8:00 PM.

DEIT will also be holding a special Instructor Roundtable and Dinner on 6/17/2015 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. This session will be held both in person in Gambet Room 243 and online through Blackboard Collaborate from 6:00 – 7:00 PM for those who cannot attend in person. This Roundtable session is an opportunity for instructors at DeSales to share their experiences with other instructors, ask DEIT questions, and provide feedback to make teaching at DeSales University an even better place to teach and learn in the future.

Also new in June 2015 is the New Course Template Overview for Instructors workshop. Starting with all Fall 2015 courses (including Traditional Day, ACCESS, and Graduate sessions) all course shells in Blackboard will have the new template applied to their course. This new template will not affect the functionality of Blackboard, but does have a new, improved layout for the left navigation menu. This half hour online workshop will be held on 6/9/2015 from 7:00 – 7:30 PM and will go over the new look for courses and the best practices for using the new template. Sessions on the new template will also be held throughout July and August as well.

STUDENTS: New students are encouraged to attend the online New Student Orientation for Online/Hybrid Courses workshop held on 6/25/2015 from 7:00 – 7:30 PM. New students will be introduced to the tools and services both DEIT and the Trexler Library Staff offer.
