The IRS has issued an urgent warning to avoid a new phishing scheme. This scam impersonates the IRS and the FBI as part of a ransomware scam to take your computer’s data hostage. The scam email contains the emblems of the IRS and the FBI, and tries to entice you to click on a “here” link to download an FBI questionnaire. Instead, it downloads malware which prevents you from accessing your data, unless you pay money to the scammers. The IRS does not email or call you as a first contact. University policy requires the following employees to complete the annual conflict of interest disclosure form:
- all division/department heads
- all holders of a University corporate card
- those who handle cash or process cash transactions and student financial aid
- those responsible for grants administration
All employees who meet at least one of these general classifications should review the statement and sign where indicated (disclosing any potential conflicts as defined by the policy in the space available) and forward the completed form to Debbie Naso as soon as possible but no later than September 30, 2017.
All holders of a University corporate card must also complete the Corporate Card Policy certification. This form should also be returned to Debbie Naso by September 30, 2017.

Congratulations to Director of Development for Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival Melissa Kerr ’10 and husband Joe Kerr ’10 on the arrival of Joseph Griffin Kerr, born Saturday, August 26 – 7lbs, 14oz, 20in. All are doing well, and we are happy to welcome Griffin to the DSU family.
Val has been part of the DeSales family for 22 years. She will retire on Thursday, August 31. During her years at DeSales, she served in Institutional Advancement, the Treasurer’s office, and, most recently, in Student Affairs. Val was named Employee of the Year in 2004. Join us at our upcoming Weight Watchers Open House for a Tricky Tray Raffle and giveaways! The Open House will be 30-45 minutes of information, encouragement, and FUN!
