Disability Awareness Month – Service Dogs

Did you know that service dogs are trained to do many tasks for a person with a disability?

Examples of such tasks may include guiding persons with low vision, providing stability for persons who have difficulty walking, alerting persons with hearing impairments when someone is approaching from behind, and responding to medical emergencies for persons with seizure disorders.

  • Do not feed or pet a Service Animal without prior permission from the owner. Service Animals can be very protective, and interacting with an animal without the prior permission of the owner may distract them from the task at hand. (When the dog is wearing their harness, they are working)
  • Do not separate or attempt to separate an owner from their Service Animal.
  • The nature of an individual’s disability is a private matter. Discussions about an individual’s disability should be undertaken only if the individual with a disability initiates that discussion.

Casting Call at DeSales, 10/16

For the second year, the TV/Film department at DeSales University is conducting a general audition for actors of all ages in the Lehigh Valley. The department is looking to build a database of local actors that the students can use for their film projects. This year the casting call will be on Monday, October 16 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Actors who wish to participate must RSVP via email to Participating in this casting call does not guarantee a part in any of the film projects at DeSales but it will secure a spot in our database.
