Student Forums for the DeSales University Self-Study

All students – traditional undergraduate, ACCESS, and graduate – populations are invited to attend one of two open forums on the DeSales University Self-Study:

  • Tuesday, October 17 at 3 p.m., Danko Room in McShea
  • Wednesday, October 18 at 7 p.m., Danko Room in McShea
Come hear about the University’s self-study process for re-accreditation with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and discuss the draft of the Self-Study Report with the Co-Directors, Dr. Sarah K. Nytroe and Prof. Elizabeth Rosa.

A FREE FILM SCREENING, hosting film director Maxim Pozdorovkin and Dr. Larson, the director of the clinic, to speak with DeSales University students in the healthcare programs about the film. This event is free but registration is required.

Today, undocumented immigrants face countless daily challenges, including obtaining access to affordable health care. At Puentes de Salud health clinic in South Philadelphia, volunteers address this problem by serving uninsured Latino immigrants who have nowhere else to turn and are increasingly reluctant to seek care in the current political climate. The timely documentary CLÍNICA DE MIGRANTES spotlights the bonds between the doctors and their patients, and goes beyond the politicized rhetoric to show the faces of real people in the middle of the immigration debate. Have an opinion about what DeSales technology works, what doesn’t, and what’s missing? Like pizza? Come to a student forum on Thursday, October 19 at 3:30 p.m. in Dooling Auditorium to discuss DeSales’ academic and administrative technology systems. You’ll take a brief live “clicker” quiz, have some pizza, and chat about your experiences with DeSales’ technology.

Romeo and Juliet: Shakespeare’s greatest masterpiece now on the road in Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival’s WillPower Tour

From the page and to the stage, William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet launches Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival’s annual WillPower Tour which will perform for 50 schools across Pennsylvania and New Jersey through November 17.

Now in its 18th year, the WillPower Tour has served more than 174,000 students in 40 of Pennsylvania’s 67 counties as well as New Jersey and Delaware. The tour includes a professionally directed 80-minute production with set and costumes, trained actor-teachers, and quality curriculum through workshops and other sessions with the students.

“The live theatre experience is the perfect complement for educators and students when incorporated before, during, or after reading the text of Romeo and Juliet in the classroom,” says Jill Arington, PSF Education Director. [Read more…]
