More and more, our lives and our devices are intertwined. Your personal data drives how your smart devices work. Make sure your networked devices aren’t compromising your personal data.

Did you know?
It only takes two minutes on average to hack an IoT device. Often these devices are set at the factory with default passwords. Know how your devices connect and if you can, change the default passwords. When looking to purchase a device, ask how you can secure it on your home network. Always scan any new devices with security software before employing them in your network.

Today: Emergency Services Severe Weather Drill

The DeSales University Emergency Services Department will be conducting a University-wide severe weather drill on Tuesday, October 17, 2017.

The drill will simulate a severe weather emergency with a tornado heading to the University and will begin at approximately 10:52 a.m.

All components of the Campus Emergency Alert System (CEALS) will be utilized during this drill, i.e. e2Campus, Big Voice, and the Visiplex system currently installed in all academic/administrative buildings and the University Villages. Please follow the instructions provided from the CEALS. The drill will end at approximately 11:10 a.m.

Below are vital instructions to follow for the upcoming drill:

  • Move to the basement of the building- they provide the best protection.
  • Move to an interior room with no windows, or a hallway on the lowest floor possible.
  • Move to an interior stairwell if all rooms have windows.
  • Stay in the center of the room away from doors and windows.
  • Stay in place until the danger has passed or until instructed to do so via the Campus Emergency Alert System (CEALS)

NORMAN A. CARTER, JR. served as a Philadelphia Police Officer for 25 years. He rose through the ranks of the police department from being a uniformed patrol officer and retired as a Police Corporal in the highly coveted Narcotics Field Unit.
