Reminder: Philosophy and Theology Department Lecture Series Today – “Aquinas on the Imago Dei”

The Philosophy and Theology department will hold the second of four lectures in its 2017-18 lecture series on Tuesday, November 28 from 4-5:30 p.m. in the Heritage Room of the DUC. Dr. Stephen Loughlin will offer a philosophical paper entitled, “St. Thomas’s Understanding of Genesis 1:26 — ‘Let us make man to Our own image and likeness.'”

Genesis 1:26 reveals that the human person is made to the image and likeness of God Himself. While many Christian thinkers pay homage to this revelation, rarely do they pursue assiduously its implications to their views concerning human nature and living. St. Thomas is an exception to this as he makes this revelation the high point of his deliberations on human anthropology. This lecture will offer St. Thomas’s reading of Genesis 1:26 and its direct impact upon the whole of his psychology and how such is realized properly in the Christian life.

Coffee and cookies will be provided. Please join us!
