Graduation Memo to Full-time Faculty and Professional Staff

Good morning all,

Commencement for the Class of 2018 will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at 11:00 a.m.  We look forward to welcoming Rev. George Salzmann, OSFS, ’71, Ph.D., Harvard University Graduate School Chaplain, as our commencement speaker and honorary degree recipient.

This memo is a reminder that all full-time faculty, administrative, and professional staffs are required to attend commencement, and that academic attire is to be worn. If for any reason, you are unable to attend, please notify Mary at

If the weather is favorable, commencement will be held outdoors on the mall behind Conmy/Tocik Halls. Robing will take place in Dooling Hall – directional signs will be posted. Trustees and members of the platform party will robe in Wills Hall. The procession will form at 10:45 a.m. Trustees, honorary degree recipients, faculty members, President’s Cabinet, and the Chaplain will be seated on the stage; members of the professional and administrative staff will be seated in the front rows of chairs located on the left-hand side of the stage (as you face the stage). History Club Trip to Civil War Site, Harpers Ferry – 4/22

Join the class of HI314 (Civil War America) for an all-day trip to Harpers Ferry where John Brown and his army raided a federal arsenal in 1859 seeking to start a slave rebellion. The all-day trip is on Sunday, April 22, leaving campus from the DUC at 7:30 a.m. and returning by 7:30 p.m.

This trip is a History Club event, but open to any and all students and history buffs. But space is limited. Don’t miss out! To signup see Dr. Sarah Nytroe in Dooling 265 by Thursday, April 19.
