The DeSales University Standing Committees and Board Committees Membership lists for 2018-2019

Most of the work of the University is done through these committees. This is a wonderful expression of the collegial nature of the University.

It is essential that all members of the community participate fully in the committee structure. If you serve on a committee, you are a vital communication link between your committee and the other members of the University community. Please share your views with conviction at the meetings and report back to the larger community at appropriate moments.

At the first meeting, please review the charge of the committee as enumerated in the Faculty Handbook. Please forward the names of the elected chairs to me. All members of the committee should understand the task and parameters of the committee’s work.

Thank you all for your vital participation in the life of our University.

One of the benefit offerings for full time employees of DeSales University is the opportunity to participate in one of two Tuition Exchange scholarship programs available to dependents of eligible staff and faculty.  Meetings to discuss these scholarship programs as well as the Tuition Waiver process for dependents of eligible employees who wish to attend DeSales University will be held Wednesday, September 26th, 2018 from 2pm – 3pm, and again on Thursday, September 27th, 2018 from 11am – 12pm in the Wood Room of the University Center.

This meeting is primarily for our employees who are the parents of students entering their junior or senior year of high school in the fall.  If you do not have a student in one of these categories but are interested in information for future reference you are also welcome to attend.  Come with your questions – members of our Enrollment Management and Human Resources staff will be available to answer.

If you have scheduling conflicts, please let us know and we will gladly send you related material and/or handouts from the meeting.

Celebrate Your Freedom to Read

Do you enjoy your freedom to read? Then speak out with Trexler Library during Banned Books Week!

Banned Books Week 2018 is September 23-29 with the theme “Banning Books Silences Stories.” Launched in 1982 in response to a surge in books being challenged in schools, bookstores, and libraries, Banned Books Week celebrates the “freedom to seek and express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox or unpopular.”

Follow along as Trexler Library fights censorship and speaks out for intellectual freedoms with virtual read-out videos on our social media platforms (@desales_trexler). We will be posting videos throughout Banned Books Week of students and staff reading from banned and challenged books. Any students interested in participating in the read-out videos can contact
