DPT Program offering FREE Pediatric Physical Therapy Clinic

The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program at DeSales University along with Good Shepherd Rehabilitation will be hosting pediatric pro bono clinics this fall from October 24-December 7, 2018.   Physical therapy treatments will be provided free of charge by second year DPT students under the direct supervision of state licensed physical therapy faculty members.

The program is seeking volunteer pediatric clients to participate in the clinic who have a neurological condition or developmental delay or disability.   The clinic hopes to serve those that still require treatment, but have no insurance benefits, cannot afford physical therapy co-payments, or have reached the cap on the number of treatment visits permitted by their insurance carrier.

Appointments will be scheduled at either DeSales University main campus or Good Shepherd Physical Therapy in Center Valley.

  • DeSales University, Center Valley: Wednesdays 1-4 pm October 24-December 5, 2018
  • Good Shepherd Physical Therapy Center Valley: Fridays 9:00 am-12:00 pm October 26-December 7, 2018

Please note, there will be no clinics the week of Thanksgiving (November 21st  & November 23rd).

Faculty: Celebrate Intellectual Freedom with Banned Books Week

Faculty – interested in discussing intellectual freedom and censorship with your students? Banned Books Week 2018 is September 23-29 with the theme “Banning Books Silences Stories.” Launched in 1982 in response to a surge in books being challenged in schools, bookstores, and libraries, Banned Books Week celebrates the “freedom to seek and express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox or unpopular.”

For resources to share with your students, check out Banned Books Week’s list of Educator Resources, the American Library Association’s Top Ten Most Challenged Books lists, and Top 100 Banned/Challenged Books for 2000-2009.
