Tonight – DSU Historical Film Series: “Reel” History Screening of Hidden Figures

The DSU Historical Film Series: “Reel” History will have its screening and discussion of Hidden Figures (2016) on Tuesday, February 20 in the Air Products Room of the Trexler Library. The spring viewing of Hidden Figures pairs well with the fall viewing of Norma Rae (1979). In both films, “ordinary” women seek to “make” history despite the odds stacked against them.

Admission is FREE and open to students, employees, and the public. Popcorn and refreshments will be provided. Door prizes to be had!

Faculty: Extra Credit for Diversity Program

To all faculty:

My name is Abria Jackson and I am a Sophomore PACER. Last fall, I did a program for faculty only, on the importance of talking about diversity and inclusion in a classroom setting. This year I am hosting a program just for students and to encourage your students to go to the diversity program, I am in need of your help! Discussions on diversity and inclusion are essential especially in the college setting. It brings about awareness and celebrates the stories of everybody that partakes in the conversation. I am asking if faculty can come together and allow students to receive extra credit for coming to the program. In doing so, this can encourage your students to partake in something that could be life-changing. The program will be held on February 28, 2018 at 7 p.m.

If you are a faculty member that is willing to offer your students extra credit, please email Abria at aj4512@desales.edu. I will have a specific sign up sheet for the classes and will report back to the professors the names of the students.

If you are a faculty member and cannot give extra credit, I ask that you could still encourage students to come to the program!

Doctors Remind That It’s Not Too Late To Get The Flu Shot

Flu shots will be available during the DSU Wellness Fair.  Rite Aid staff of Hellertown will be available to give Flu Shots in the DeSales University Center on Thursday, February 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Those enrolled in Highmark Blue Shield through DeSales University will receive the shot at no charge, however, you must bring your insurance card along with you to receive the shot. Anyone not enrolled in the University sponsored health plan can still receive the shot by providing their insurance card, and Rite Aid will submit directly for payment. Those individuals may or may not incur costs. We have negotiated a special cash price of $27.00 for the Trivalent and $32.00 for the Quad flu shots.

You may contact your health care provider directly to discuss, or call Rite Aid Pharmacy at 610.838.7371.

Important Spring Break Information

Hello Students,

Spring Break is almost upon us! All residence halls will shut down for the break on Friday, March 2 at 6 p.m., and will reopen at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 11.

Please be advised that there are VERY LIMITED services available for Traditional Undergraduate Day students during this time. As such, residents are required to vacate their residence halls.

The only exceptions that may be made are for students required to stay by faculty/staff members for University sanctioned events and/or full time/day undergraduate academic responsibilities or for students who live more than 300 miles from campus. If you reside more than 300 miles away, you may request to stay on campus at the Office of Campus Life.

Students who must stay on campus over the break for a University sanctioned event must coordinate their request to stay through their staff/faculty advisor.

All requests must be submitted by 10 a.m. on Monday, February 26. Requests later than this date cannot be guaranteed approval.

If you have any questions about Spring Break closing, please talk with your Resident Advisor about the process.
