Reminder: SGA Awards Nominations Due Today

DeSales University Student Government Association (SGA) Awards Nominations

It is time to recognize the hard working individuals who go above and beyond on behalf of the student body and DSU community as a whole. DSU students, faculty, and staff are invited to nominate fellow students or student groups for any of the James F. Kilcur SGA Class Awards, the SGA Program of the Year, and the SGA Club of the year. DSU students are also invited to nominate those faculty and staff members for the SGA Outstanding Faculty and Outstanding Staff of the Year awards.

We will formally notify students, faculty, and staff if selected as the recipient of an award.  All awards will be presented at the Student Life Awards Banquet on Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Author Elissa Washuta to Read at DeSales, 9/25

DiScoUrse, the Creative Writing Honors Society of DeSales University, will host a reading by Elissa Washuta on Thursday, September 25 at 7 p.m. The event will be held in the Hurd Room of the DeSales University Center and is open to students, faculty, staff, and the public.

Washuta will read from My Body is a Book of Rules, a memoir exploring her struggles with mental illness, abuse, and ethnic identity. The book is available for purchase at the DeSales Campus Store.

Organizational Structure Assessment Announcement

Consonant with the principles of effective assessment for continuous improvement at DeSales and the expectations of Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) for institutional leadership and governance, the Institutional Outcomes Assessment Committee is completing an evaluation of the implementation of DeSales University Organizational Structure.

The evaluation seeks to focus on four main areas: Communication, Alignment, Function and Decision Making in relationship to the two parts of the Organizational Structure – the Divisional Structure and the Committee Structure separately.

In the two weeks following Spring Break (March 10 -21) the Institutional Outcomes Assessment Committee will be gathering feedback from University stakeholders via surveys that will be administered electronically to faculty, staff, and students that have served on University committees.

DeSales 14th Annual Student Film Festival

The Division of Performing Arts is pleased to announce the 14th annual Film Festival playing Friday, March 21and Saturday, March 22at 8:00 PM in the Main Stage of the Labuda Center for the Performing Arts.

Featuring a world premiere slate of creative, intelligent, and entertaining films produced by TV/Film students, the Film Festival is a 75-minute program screening works written, directed, and produced by TV/Film majors ranging from narrative film to music videos and everything in between. This year’s festival showcases why the DeSales TV/Film program is considered the leader in media studies in the Lehigh Valley.

This year’s festival celebrates the fruits of the students’ year long labor as screenwriters, directors, actors, cinematographers, editors, dancers, and musicians and their slate of witty, compelling, and powerful films are competing for “Best in Show,” “Honorable Mention,” and the all-new “Audience Choice” award.
