Faculty Professional Activities

Second issue of the 2011-2012 Academic Year

I am preparing the second issue of the Faculty Professional Activities memo that I send to the university community and also post on the DSU website under “Academics.” If you have not already done so, please inform me of your professional activities by means of an email and/or campus mail memo with subject line of Faculty Professional Activities. Include letters or emails of acceptance from publishers, letters of acceptance of papers at professional meetings, or other relevant information, and a copy of an article after it appears in print. I will place the information in your file in the Academic Affairs Office.

Do not hesitate to inform me of any of your past activities which have not been reported in the Faculty Professional Activities memos. The entire University Community enjoys reading about the impressive professional activities of our faculty.

Please forward your Faculty Professional Activity information to me (at karen.walton@desales.edu) and to Ms. Jean Lynch (at jean.lynch@desales.edu) by Friday, April 27.

Thank you.

Faith & Reason Honors Program Seventh Colloquium

On Sunday evening, April 22, the Salesian Center for Faith and Culture celebrated its seventh annual colloquium where the nine members of the Class of 2012 in the Faith & Reason Honors Program were recognized for their accomplishments over the last four years. At a dinner held in their honor among family members and underclassmen in the Honors Program, Nick Ardito, Jordan Blank, Bridget Clark, Katelynn Henrich, Nicole Kowalsky, Deborah Lubov, Melissa Millilli, Colleen Shelley, and Robert Zanneo gave a synopsis of their senior thesis, a capstone project representative of four years of commitment to academic excellence. During their tenure at DeSales, these students participated in semester seminars looking at extraordinary issues facilitated by various directors (Chris Buss, Tom Dailey, Andrew Essig, Peter Leonard, Brennan Pursell, Patrick Mulcahy, Stephen Myers, Greg Kerr, and Sam Martineau).  Each honors student selected a thesis director (David Gilfoil, Sara Hayik, Ann Marie Houck, Rodney Howsare, Brian Kane, Peter Leonard, Sam Martineau, and Daniel Wisniewski) who guided their work.  A review committee (Mary Birkhead, Deb Booros, Bill Dwyer, Kristin Fieseler, Boyce Jubilan, Tom McNamara, Gracia Perilli, and Linda Zerbe) read blind copies of each thesis and met to agree on the Best Honors Thesis for the Class of 2012.  This prestigious award went to Robert Zanneo. Congratulations to the Honors Class of 2012!
