Trexler Library Temporary Hours

Library Hours Jan. 13 – Jan. 19, 2014

Trexler Library will close at 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday during the week of Jan 13-19.  Our Evening Circulation Supervisor is going back to graduate school, and we are in the process of finding her replacement.

Our regular hours will resume on Jan. 20 and we will be open until midnight Monday through Thursday but Sundays we will close at 10 p.m.

Once we have a new Evening Circulation Supervisor,  the library will be open until 1pm Sunday through Thursday.  We will let you know when we are ready to provide the extended time.


Classroom Assignments for Spring 2014

Classroom assignments for the Spring 2014 Day semester are now finalized.  Please view your class schedule in MyDSU-WebAdvisor to confirm your classroom assignments.  There have been some classroom changes so be sure to review your schedule before the first day of class.



ARC Seeking Note-Takers

The Academic Resource Center is currently hiring note-takers for the spring semester. The note-taker writes or types notes for a student with a documented disability who is unable to effectively take his/her own notes.

Ideally, the note-taker would be someone who takes thorough and detailed notes and has a cumulative GPA of 3.0.  Note-takers are responsible for posting notes to Blackboard within 24 hours of the lecture.  All new note-takers are required to take a brief online training course and submit appropriate paperwork to payroll.

Our note-takers remark that their own grades improve when they take notes for someone else! If eligible, you may take notes for one or more classes.

This is a wonderful opportunity which will allow you to earn extra spending money, sharpen your study skills, and shine on your resume!

FREE Blackboard Mobile App

A FREE Blackboard Mobile App is now available to all DeSales faculty, staff, and students!  This mobile app will allow you to view all DeSales courses that reside in Blackboard.

The app can be downloaded by going to your device’s application store, searching “Blackboard Mobile Learn”, then downloading. Once the app has been downloaded, you will be prompted to search for your school and type in “DeSales University”. On the following page, you will enter your DeSales username/password credentials to access your Blackboard courses and organizations.


It’s Lunch Bunch time again

The Salesian Center for Faith & Culture sponsors an information discussion group for interested faculty & staff at DSU who read a book of contemporary cultural concern and discuss their reviews. The group meets three times in the Spring semester, at six-week intervals.

Each meeting takes place on a Tuesday, from 12:30 to 1:30 PM, in the Salesian Center for Faith & Culture. Lunch and the books are provided for participants but you must be able to commit to at least 2 of the meetings in order to join.

Simply choose 3 books from the link provided and submit them to Lore McFadden Westwood. After the group has been chosen the top 3 books will be selected.



Password Reset Service Forced Enrollment

Starting in the Spring 2014 semester, DeSales University will begin forcing enrollment into the Password Reset Service.  As a reminder, the Password Reset Service will allow you to setup challenge questions and then have the ability to reset your own network (MyDSU) password without having to call the Help Desk.

On Friday, January 10, we will begin sending a daily email reminder to all users that are not enrolled in the Password Reset Service.  On Monday, January 13, those of you that log on to DeSales PCs will be forced to enroll for the Password Reset Service by way of a Locked Browser Window.  That means that if you have not yet enrolled, a browser window with the enrollment link will appear on your desktop and you will not be able to continue without going through the enrollment process.
