Outsmart the flu

Supervisors, department heads and other University leaders should take time this week to positively affect the flu fight. At this stage education is an important tool! Here are some important lessons…

  • The best way to prevent or lessen the severity of the flu is to get a flu shot
  • FREQUENTLY wash your hands with soap and warm water
  • Use hand sanitizer when warm water and soap are not readily available
  • Cough or sneeze into the crook of your elbow or into a tissue, which you should throw away ASAP
  • If you get the flu, there are good prescription flu medicines available through your doctor
  • Self-isolate—don’t come into class or work for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone

There are good materials to be found at http://www.cdc.gov/flu/.
