Job Search Club

Sentiments from an anxious senior “I just need to keep calm and breathe, and stop getting so worked up over the post-college job search. It’s not good for my health and well-being. It’s a scary world out there, and I know that there are people out there, exactly like me, fretting over what to do after college, or even having second thoughts about what they really want to do after graduation.”

Please don’t fret!  Let Career Services assist you through this time.  You are strongly encouraged to sign up for the Career Services Job Search Club:

Important 2013-2014 Housing Selection Information

The 2013-2014 Housing Application has gone live for next year. There are a number of things to try and explain for this new system we have online, so I won’t try to put all in an email. We have posted as much information online as well as included video tutorials throughout the application.

Please check out the Housing Selection Information for all of the details. They can be found at MyDSU, just follow the top menu bar Life@DeSales – Residence Life – Housing Selection (Upper Class Only)

Additionally, we will be hosting two Town Hall Meetings in the McShea Commons on Monday March 18. The first will begin at 6 p.m. and we will discuss campus wide programming as well as how to navigate Wellness and General Housing Selection. At 7 p.m., we will have a meeting to discuss how to complete the application for the Heights. Please come to these meetings with any questions you may have about the process.

Some important things to note!

All applications are due by March 31, which means you must complete up to step 10. You will receive an email notification that the application portion is complete. After April 1, you will receive your time slot for selecting a room. You are not done with the housing selection process until you choose and confirm your room selection after Easter.

You can select a roommate and suite mates through the application process as well. You MUST have a roommate in order to select a room. If you cannot find your roommate in step 9, make sure they have completed their application as well, and make sure you are spelling their name correctly. If all else fails, browse all matching roommates and you can scroll through them to find who you are looking for.

Please make sure to review the info at MyDSU and fill out your applications through the Housing@DSU link.

Reminder for Easter Break

This is a reminder that the Easter Break is soon approaching. This is a well-deserved break for all of our students who have been working so diligently this semester on their academics as well as the vast number of extracurricular projects in which they are involved. On Thursday, March 28, all residence halls will shut down at 6PM for the break and will not reopen until 2 p.m. on Monday April 1.

Please be advised that there are VERY LIMITED services available for Traditional Undergraduate Day students during this time. That means dining services will be closed, the residence halls will have no on-call or security staff. Because there are no support services available for these students, everyone living in the residence halls will be required to leave. There are only exceptions made for those students required to stay by faculty and/or staff members that must be here for University sanctioned events and full time/day undergraduate academic responsibilities.

Please remember that if you are requiring students to stay over this break, there are some steps that must be followed. Also, as the faculty/staff person requiring students to stay over this break, you will be responsible for providing an emergency contact number for these students while they are on campus since the residence halls will be officially closed.

I have worked with several other offices on campus to streamline the application process to eliminate some unnecessary steps for faculty and staff. If you require any of your students to remain on campus over the break, you are asked to email jp.kelliher@desales.edu as soon as possible. We have begun to utilize Google Docs for this process and will be able to offer you directions on how to request your students to remain on campus over the break.

All requests must be posted online by 4 p.m. on Monday March 25. Requests posted later than this date cannot be guaranteed approval.

Thank you for helping to make this process smoother for our students; and please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have at jp.kelliher@desales.edu
