Every year the Lehigh Valley Chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) recognizes an MBA student in the Healthcare Systems Management concentration by awarding the EPAHEN – Dr. Hal Dolenga Emerging Leader Award.  We are pleased to announce that this year’s recipient of the award is Ms. Kristi Bochniak.

A leader in her field, Ms. Bochniak is an RN, Six Sigma Greenbelt and earned her CPHQ (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality) credentials through the NAHQ (National Association for Healthcare Quality).  She is currently employed by Sanofi as one of 50 Quality Initiative Managers throughout the United States that are deployed to partner with healthcare providers on Disease Specific Quality Initiative, and, as such, leads cross-functional project teams through the DMAIC six-Sigma methodology to achieve their goals.  Todd Francis, Vice President, US Commercial Support, remarked, “Kristi’s high level of engagement and facilitation of clear communications demonstrated the importance of managing change, always considering the needs and concerns of the end user.  Through being extremely action-oriented and responsive, Kristi became the trusted Sanofi US face of all integration activities.”

Not only is she a model employee, Kristi has also distinguished herself among her classmates and instructors by bringing a fresh perspective to classroom discussion. Dr. Carol Mest, adjunct faculty for the part-time MBA program, had the pleasure of having her both as an undergraduate and, most recently, as a graduate student.  Speaking of Kristi, she recently remarked, “Kristi is an exceptionally motivated student…the quality of her communication was always targeted and complete, with a level of integration of the concepts of both business and community health that I don’t see often when teaching my course…She has made consistent and significant progress in attaining higher and higher levels of leadership and management positions in the pharmaceutical industry.”   Mr. Raymond Savage, adjunct faculty for the part-time MBA program, also commented, “In my experience, while leadership skills can be taught and coached, Kristi clearly demonstrates an innate aptitude that I find is difficult to learn and master without some natural ability.”

Congratulations to Ms. Kristi Bochniak for this well-earned achievement!  We wish her the best of success for the future.

This year’s award was presented by Ms. Ruth Brennan, RN, BSN, MHA, FACHE – President of EPAHEN, and Dr. David M. Gilfoil, director of DeSales University’s MBA program.   The EPAHEN – Hal Dolenga Emerging Leader Award is presented to a current MBA student concentrating in healthcare who has completed at least half of the program and demonstrates evidence of current/ potential leadership success and is a member of good standing in the community.
